Diamonds are forever | 3 fashion muses, 3 mentors and 3 great makeovers
Today’s post is a very special one. To celebrate the blog’s first anniversary (see post here) and International Women’s Day; I had hosted a contest along with Monica Kapur (www.aummonicajewels.com), award-winning jewellery designer to give three women a chance to become fashionistas! We received amazing response with more than 200 contestants. And we finally chose our three winners; Anshu Madhok, Monica Solanki Kataria and Annu Dogra. This post is dedicated to the winners and their mentors!
A little word about the team first. It was an all-women brigade and we came together to make three women feel special.
The driving force behind the event is effervescent Monica kapur who hosted the entire event at her store Aum Monica Kapur located at reputed Gold Souk in Gurgaon. Monica Kapur’s love affair with designing started when she decided to do something out-of-the-box. Her intricate designs, adorned with gleaming gems and exquisite craftsmanship makes her one of the sought after jewellery designers in the most elite segment in India. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and it was no surprise to see the winners basking in the shine when they wore her designs that are specially created for today’s modern women.
We were soon joined by Arunima S Kukreja, an ex-fashion stylist with Cosmopolitan, who adorned the winners in gorgeous ensembles by her brand Asriyah by Arunima. Arunima style is chic yet graceful. She customizes acoording to taste and style of the individual. Shilpy Kapoor, international makeup artist, gave them a glamorous look with her makeup and hair dos. She decided the looks for the winners keeping in mind their features, face shape and age.
For our first winner, Anshu Mandhok looks elegant in black saree with neon pink highlighting. Monica decided to give her a diamond necklace with pearls that will suit her saree without bringing too much bling. A natural makeup to suit her style was done by Shilpy. She was given an up do with some loose hair at sides to make her face look slimmer. She looked graceful and poised and her smile just completes the look 🙂
Our second winner Monica Kataria wanted something chic and minimalist. Ashima chose a velvet LBD for her with gold trimmings. Monica gave her modern diamond pendant with matching earrings set with yellow stones to bring out the gold highlighting even more. Shilpy gave Monica smokey eyes with cat eye liner to frame her beautiful eyes and a sleek bun. Monica can give any model a run for money…what do you say?
For our third winner Annu Dogra, comfort is the key. Arumina gave her a long Indo-western gown with embroidery on top. To bring out contrast, Monica gave Annu a gorgeous piece with emeralds and green beads. Her big eyes looked beautiful in the smokey makeup with bright lip to suit her young age. Doesn’t she look like a young princess 🙂 ?
Finally, how could I not get dressed when there was a chance by three experts. Arunima gave me a beautiful off-shoulder sequin gown which is perfect for cocktails. I just fell in love with the details, the side shoulder ruffle and the falls and gathers below waist and sequins. Monica gave me these gorgeous earrings that were long and looked great with the off-shoulder dress. Shilpy went for a silver eyes for me to go with the theme of dress and jewellery and side bun (which I love by the way :P)
The camera would have felt bad if I didn’t capture Arunima. She wore a nice jumpsuit by her own line and a piece from set wore by Anshu was used as a brooch. Just shows the variety of ways in which Monica’s detachable jewellery is!
All in all, it was a girl’s day out that was filled with fun and laughter. We all shared our experiences, problems related to hair, fashion and jewellery. The smile on our winner’s faces made sure that we will cherish the memories from that day forever!
Wondering how can you get these for yourself? Don’t worry girls, I won’t leave you in lurch!
