Australia travel diaries – Hamilton Island

Hello everyone,

How have you all been? If you follow me on Instagram (if not, follow me here), you must already know that I was having fun on a three week long holiday, 22 days to be precise πŸ˜€ It was my longest vacation so far and gave me so many memories that I will cherish for years! You know how some things stuck with you for years and you just can’t let it go until you do it? When I was in school, for some reason that I can’t even remember now, I got the idea of an ideal long honeymoon in Australia and New Zealand (mind you, at that time I had no clue of who I will marry but still was planning my honeymoon destination :P). But as the fate will have it, when the time came I could not go there. But I could not rest until it happened and the trip was totally worth all the effort and wait πŸ™‚

In these 22 days, I went to sunny beaches, visited natural geysers, lost myself in bustling cities and had peaceful evenings at lake shores. Needless to say, packing was a task πŸ˜› From flowy summer dresses to down jackets, I required everything. There was lot of mixing and matching outfits and styling same pieces differently. Since most of the locations had unpredictable weather, I layered a lot of pieces for comfort. For ease, I thought that I will share my travel cum fashion diary location-wise with you guys. It can be your first step in planning for your own coming vacation or honeymoon.

Our first destination was Hamilton Island in Australia. It is one of the islands in Great Barrier Reef and is privately owned and operated. The island had beautiful beaches and harbor area where private yachts were anchored (major future goals :P) It gave the feeling of a toy town, with just one bakery, couple of restaurants, one general store all located in one area. We also took a ferry ride to Great Barrier Reef. It was here that I had the opportunity to experience Scuba diving for the first time. I do not swim, so it was a very new feeling (and challenging) to be under water. We wore wet suits and were given scary gear for oxygen. But once you are under water, you just forget everything and simply marvel at the new world that is in front of your eyes.

For clothes, I decided to go for a flowy beach dress, maxi and shorts. It was hot during the day but quite windy in evenings, so I always kept a shrug in my bag to keep me covered.
